We've deployed a new embedding model for our RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) engine. This upgrade brings significant improvements across the board, with particularly notable enhancements in understanding and processing technical documentation.

We've added back support for Google Drive, allowing you to connect and search through your team's Google Drive documents.

You can now view and chat with more file types including Markdown, Text, and VTT files. This is just the beginning - we're working on adding support for even more file types soon!

Answer with AskJack, Chat with Quick Notes, and more
New! Answer with AskJack
You can now tell AskJack to answer a question in Slack for you. It'll reply to the initial post as a thread with an answer.

New! Chat with Quick Notes
Ask questions to a Quick Note just like you can with files. This extends our chat capabilities beyond PDFs to your team's internal documentation.
New! New Chat Question and Answers UI
Now asking questions is more like having a conversation. Your conversation history is now kept in each session, showing your questions and answers sequentially. The interface has also been updated to be more inviting.
New! New navigation and cleaner interface
For those who want to stay focused on the task at hand, we've updated the navigation menu to the left of the screen. It now can be collapsed and expanded. This allows you to keep the chat interface front and center while still having access to other parts of the app.
Improvements:
- Improved search experience when dates are involved.
- Links in Quick Notes now are underlined and blue for better visibility.
- The Asked Previously section in workspaces now can be open and closed.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue causing two quick notes to be created at times.
- Fixed a potential memory leak in our Quick Note editor.

Chat with PDFs, new UX improvements, and more
New! Chat with your PDFs
You can now chat with your PDFs. When you click on a file (from Workspace Knowledge or while managing Files) you are sent to a new page where you can view the file and use AI to chat with just that file. Support for other file types is coming soon!

Workspace improvements
- New!Private Workspaces You can now create a workspace only accessible to you. Use AskJack as your own second brain.
- New!Workspace Question History Forget what you just asked? Your last 6 questions are now shown to you to quicklfy view past answers.
- You can now use CMD+K or CTRL+K shortcuts to quickly focus your input to the AI Search input.
- Description is now optional when creating a workspace.
Other improvements:
- Data Sources have been revamped on the backend, allowing us to start letting you share your data sources with others to use in their own workspaces. Coming soon!
- The users list now shows the admin, so your user count will match the list count.
- The Slack app now requires you to authenticate before you can ask questions with it.
- Updated Quick Note editor's UX to match AskJack styling.
- Standard users can now update their passwords in settings.
- Added a new Data settings page to see the data you've added.
- Plus many other UX improvements making AskJack more user friendly.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed issue with Saving message in Quick Notes getting stuck and not showing the actual status.
- Fixed issue with Quick note name not being saved properly.
Personalized onboarding and search enhancements
We've added a new role-based onboarding to streamline your first-time experience by customizing guidance to your specific role.
You'll see new role specific checklists in the help center to guide you through essential tasks and best practices using AskJack.

We've also made an improvement to our RAG system to improve large file multi-source queries. We found situations where the AI context window would be exceeded and have improved the way we handle this.
New Home Page Experience
We've updated the home page to help you explore all that AskJack can do. This is just our first step in making AskJack more discoverable.

Quick Notes: Effortless Documentation
Quick Notes are a new feature in AskJack that allows you to make documentation easy. You can make a quick note in the AskJack app or from Slack.
Turn any Slack message into lasting knowledge with a single click.
When you answer a question in Slack, save it as a Quick Note in AskJack. Next time someone asks, the answer is already there—no need to repeat yourself. It's documentation that builds itself as your team communicates.

- To make a quick note from Slack, select "Quick Note in AskJack" in a messages "more actions" context menu.
- The note will be saved to the channels configured workspace and immediately available as an answer with /ask or @ask.
Make a Quick Note from the AskJack app
You can make a quick note from the AskJack app by clicking the "New Quick Note" button in the Workspace Knowledge panel.

This launches the Quick Notes editor where you can write your note.
- Quick Notes automatically save and name themselves based on their content.
- You can choose to make many small notes or use the editors rich text editor to make a single, comprehensive note.

Workspaces: Team-Specific Knowledge Bases
Create dedicated spaces for each team's expertise. Support teams can access documentation through Slack. Sales teams can tap into their playbooks and battle cards—all in their own channels.
Workspaces support how your company organizes and accesses team data.

- Each workspace has its own set of data sources, ensuring that information is relevant and up-to-date for the team using it.
- Data sources are now set and managed within each workspace.
Workspaces are a great way to keep your knowledge base organized and accessible to the right people.
Our Slack integration has also been updated to support workspaces
- When you add the AskJack app to a channel use the /ask set-workspace command.
- You can select one workspace per Slack channel
This update also includes various bug fixes and improvements.
AskJack General Availability
Since last June, our design partners have experienced how AskJack can help improve team productivity and consolidate knowledge. We thank our design partners for their feedback and support.
And we're now excited to announce general availability of AskJack!
